Centennial Middle School Parents and Guardians,
The CMS vision statement is ‘Cultivating Minds for Success.’ This statement reflects the faculty and staff’s commitment to teaching students not only academic content but also empowering and inspiring students to apply their knowledge and skills successfully beyond the classroom. A variation of the vision statement we use with students is ‘Grow Your Mind.’ We challenge students to grow each day by doing their personal best, working responsibly and acting respectfully. We advise and instruct students on the value of perseverance, respect, integrity, dedication, and educational equity and encourage students to consistently demonstrate these qualities.
As a staff, we are committed to creating and maintaining a safe, respectful, culturally-inclusive environment for all students. Equity is important, and our belief mirrors the district belief statement: Ethnicity, economic circumstance, primary language and special needs do not predict academic success. This belief and commitment are evidenced in the amount of academic growth experienced by the majority of subgroups of our students on the state test. We are working to reduce the remaining achievement gaps.
The vision of ‘Grow your mind’ also pertains to staff. Priority areas for adult learning this year to name a few include: concepts and tools for improved family engagement, systems of support for academics, attendance, and behavior, effective instructional delivery, and equity.
In closing, we want the very best for each and every Centennial Middle School student. We want our students to leave CMS confident, competent and ready for high school.
